Together with London-based producer & set designer Polina Moldaschl we debuted our personal project which explores the theme of self-doubt through the expressive medium of flowers.

The series acts as a visual metaphor for the vulnerable nature of one’s self-image. Our pair have attempted to capture the internal fragility and doubt we are all plagued with, and ultimately the true beauty that lies within our uniqueness. We have collaborated on this project to create beautiful and poignant imagery with an important personal message.

When you walk into a garden, it is unlikely that you will compare a waterlily to a rose, nor would you expect a rose to look like a tulip. In the same sense that each flower is unique and authentic, so are we as individuals. Whilst the societal game of comparison has always existed, with the additional element of constantly evolving social media, it affects each of us with a new intensity, that ultimately invites more self-doubt into our lives. With this photoshoot we wanted to depict how, when we are afraid to be authentic, we hide our unique beauty.

We always try to hide our true selves behind the masks of confidence, arrogance, or indifference. This is an attempt to avoid being hurt, in the same way we wrap a fragile flower in paper or film, in an effort to protect it. However, the true beauty and uniqueness can only be revealed once we unwrap the flower, just like when we reveal our genuine personality to the world and stop attempting to mimic others.
